Contractors offer independent consultancy services, based on experience in the IT
industry dating back to the early eighties. We have experience as developer
and end-user, reseller and account manager, operations manager and project
manager, technical and marketing, and have first-hand experience of over 200
sites around the world. However, we base our consultancy on your business
requirements, and then look for technologies that complement, rather than
forcing your business to change to suit the latest technology fad.
Why use independent advice? Well, that way you can be assured that the interests
of your business are looked after. Make your purchases according to your
timescales, rather than those of your reseller – but then again, take
advantage of the best times to buy. Want more options, or to test the market?
Someone to research possible solutions, or give a detailed comparison between
various options? Use us as an independent adviser to manage the bid process or
to write the requirements specification, based on your business requirements. Of
course, our payment is based on our work for you, not commission on sales – so
we want your repeated business, which will only occur when we prove our worth to
you.
Pseudo IT Manager. IT can be one of those things that expand like a gas
to fill all available time. But use us as your IT manager and you can continue
to focus on your core business, while making effective use of your computing
resources. Quite probably you can see the business benefit of having a website,
a record of all customer contact, or data shareable between your staff or
branches, but don’t necessarily know how to get started, or what sort of money
is required to get going. An IT Manager is, in many cases, a luxurious expense,
but without one you either have to do it yourself, eating into your time, or
rely on an IT company, which may have different priorities. As an independent we
can be your IT Manager once per week, once per month, or for the duration of a
project, saving you money, but still making your business’ needs the important

Alternately, as a larger company you might have IT
Management requirements that are more than one person can manage. So use us for
an additional 1/5th or 2/5th resource, without the
headcount.
Project Management. Once you have selected your solution, whether it is
hardware, software or nothing to do with IT, use our project management skills
to implement all aspects, to make sure your timeframes are met and requirements
protected. Especially if the
project includes more than one supplier. Use us perhaps for contract negotiation
– get yourself some protection!
Planning. Sometimes it takes someone from outside your
organisation to see what is really going on. And sometimes, an external
facilitator can add a great deal in terms of thoughts, suggestions, or even
devil’s advocacy, to a planning session or meeting. We have experience of
planning - strategic business, marketing and IT. Let us facilitate your next
planning session, and see where it leads.
Event Management. We can arrange all aspects of product launches,
official openings, or any other customer or staff focussed events. This might
include visualisation, coordination, facilitating, acting as MC, or making sure
that music, catering, lighting, media coverage and anything else required to
make the day have a positive effect on your business are arranged as required.
VMS Support. Many companies in the 80’s bet their businesses on VMS, arguably the most robust operating system to date. Now, there is not a great deal of support available. With a former Digital VMS Ambassador (of which there are less than 200 worldwide) we can provide System Management support, including: performance management and tuning, capacity planning, security auditing, process automation, extracting data from ISAM/flat files etc, plus we have links direct to VMS engineering. We spent five years in the UK offering a similar service, which might be monthly health checks, assuming support responsibilities, or performing specific tasks or projects.
We
can also support applications where you have the source code and the rights to
modify it.
All of these services are available by the day or half day, as one-off tasks or on going.
